Business Development Manager

This is a new role within our company. We need a results-driven Business Development Manager who is well-connected within the land development or construction industry. You will be responsible for significantly growing our client base and revenue by developing new business relationships and deepening existing ones. Your exceptional network should include land developers, high-level influencers, or decision-makers in the property and infrastructure space. What will you do? • Deliver a minimum of $1M of new business opportunities annually (work we would not have secured without your involvement), growing to $2M+ over time • Proactively identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities aligned with Baseline Group’s capabilities and market strategy. • Represent Baseline at networking functions, industry events, and client meetings, including out-of-hours engagements. • Collaborate closely with our leadership team to shape our growth strategy. • Mentor and support internal staff to upskill their business development/sales capabilities and extend their professional networks. • Develop and execute a sales/BDM strategy focused on high-potential opportunities in the land development space. • Leverage existing industry relationships and establish new ones to generate leads and convert them to revenue. • Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities with clear visibility on sales stages and revenue value. • Collaborate with technical staff to tailor proposals, submissions, and pitches to win new work. • Build key account plans for valued clients and ensure repeat business through relationship nurturing and service alignment. • Track and report on key sales metrics and performance indicators. • Coach and support junior BDM staff and attend joint meetings to accelerate their learning. What will you bring to the team? • A proven track record in B2B sales or business development, ideally within land development, engineering, construction, or surveying. • A strong and active network within the development community in canterbury, preferably the South Island. • Confidence with commercial conversations and a good understanding of what drives clients' decisions. • Developed relationship building skills that can open doors, create trust, and convert opportunities. • A passion for targets, accountability for results, and motivation to achieve. • Willingness to work flexible hours and attend industry functions as required. • The capability of mentoring others and lifting internal capability.
