Graduate or Intermediate Planner

Baseline Group is an established multi-disciplinary development consulting practice based out of Christchurch, New Zealand, although we also have offices in Marlborough and Central Otago and work on projects across New Zealand (including the Chatham Islands).

We pride ourselves on creating cost-effective and proactive solutions for our clients across a range of land development, surveying, planning and engineering projects.

We are undergoing significant growth and are seeking a Graduate or Intermediate Planner to help develop our planning team.

About the position:

Our planning team prepares and processes resource consent applications, prepares plan change applications, provides expert evidence at hearings, and generally provides District Plan help and advice to all manner of land developers, large and small.

Responsibilities will include:

  • An understanding of the Resource Management Act (RMA) and be able to provide our clients with advice on resource management plans and policies.
  • Prepare resource consent applications for land use, subdivision, discharge permits, water permits and coastal permit resource consents.
  • Provide peer review of planning team project work.
  • Liaise with clients and Council and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Building relationships with local authority staff to resolve planning issues.
  • Strong work ethic, a professional attitude and a proven track record of producing clear, concise and accurate applications in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • A keenness to grow and develop your career in this exciting field.

About you:

  • Graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in resource management planning or a related field; or
  • Minimum of 2 years proven experience with client communication and liaisons
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • A strong track record of managing time frames and meeting deadlines
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A clean driving record
