Who are we?
Baseline Group is a specialist land development consultancy with offices in Christchurch, Auckland, and Marlborough. We work across planning, surveying, civil and structural engineering, and resource consenting - but land development is what we do best.
We are a small team by design. That means you work directly with our directors, you see the full scope of a project, and your contribution actually moves things forward. If you have come from a large firm and spent most of your time on one small slice of a project, this will feel different.
What are we looking for?
We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with a proven track record in subdivision and land development projects. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality work under the guidance of our senior leadership, while maintaining the autonomy to manage your own time to hit key project milestones.
The Role
As part of our civil engineering team, your day-to-day will cover the full range of land development engineering:
- Prepare civil engineering design of wastewater, stormwater, potable water, earthworks, and surface drainage networks
- Assess and analyse catchment variables and undertake calculation modelling of fluid networks
- Prepare and understand tender documents and supporting information for NZS 3910 contracts
- Understand civil construction techniques and costs to prepare construction estimates
- Monitor site works and act as the engineer's representative to contract
- Meet with clients, understand their requirements, and provide design solutions
- Prepare reports to support engineering design, resource consent applications, or other disciplines
- Undertake site investigations
- Interact with local authority staff to resolve engineering issues
- Manage timeframes and deliver work to meet deadlines
What you will bring?
- Confidence in your interactions with clients, contractors, and colleagues
- The ability to undertake engineering works and fulfil the responsibilities of the Engineer to the contract under NZS 3910
- Experience in land development or subdivision design
- NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
